The Bahrain forum for Human Rights (BFHR) discussed the recent developments in Bahrain with officials from the European Union and Parliament
In an effort to inform the international community of human rights developments in Bahrain, the activist and BFHR official, Baqer Darwish, recently met with a group of officials from the European Union and the European Parliament in Brussels. They discussed recent developments which affected human rights, especially revoking the citizenship of the highest Shiite religious authority in the Gulf, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, arresting the prominent human rights activist, Nabeel Rajab, targeting the rest of the human rights defenders, and the deterioration of the situation of rights and freedoms – which include freezing the activity of the biggest political opposition society, Al-Wefaq, as well as promoting the situation of sectarian persecution in the country and dissolving the Islamic Enlightenment Society (Al-Taweya) and Al-Risala Islamic Society.
