Bahraini human rights organizations submitted 13 reports on violations to the Human Rights Council, in cooperation with Arab and international human rights organizations. The reports were adopted as official documents for the 36th session and were posted on the Council’s site as part of the Council's mechanisms to communicate with the international human rights community and public opinion. The five reports submitted by the Bahrain Forum Human Rights (BFHR) in cooperation with the Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture dealt with the following topics: “Military Judiciary Law in Comparison with the Standards and Guarantees of Fair Trials”, “Bahrain: Torture and Ill-treatment”, “House Arrest Imposed on Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim Continues and Persecution of Duraz Protesters Persists”, “Targeting Civil Society Organizations”, “Prisoner of Conscience Sheikh Hassan Issa: More than 590 Days in Solitary Confinement.” Salam for Democracy and Human Rights submitted 8 reports on the human rights situation in Bahrain according to the following distribution: 2 reports in cooperation with the Khiam Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture entitled: “Violations in the Field of Education”, and “Bahrain and the Death Penalty”, and the following reports in cooperation with the African Association for the defense of Human Rights: “Criminalization of Freedom of Peaceful Assembly”, and “Revocation of Nationality.” In cooperation with Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain, Salam submitted a report entitled: “Implementation of the UPR Recommendations in Bahrain.” In cooperation with the International Council Supporting Fair Trial and Human Rights, Salam also submitted the following three reports: “Freedom of Expression in Bahrain”, “Human Rights Defender Ebtisam al-Sayegh and the Role of the National Security Agency”, and “Bahrain's National Security Agency and its Violations.” October 11, 2017 |
