BFHR: The security authorities summoned nine citizens after they performed Friday prayers in Duraz The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights monitored the summoning of 9 Bahraini citizens by the security authorities to the Southern Hamad Town Police Station, because they went to perform Friday prayers in Duraz, and due to the chants that citizens repeat before the prayer. The citizens were interrogated about how they entered Duraz when they participated in the Friday prayers, and they were obligated to sign a pledge to appear at the police station upon request. Unofficially, the security authorities consider performing prayers in another residential area a crime, and practicing freedom of expression by refusing normalization with the occupying entity through mass chants is also a crime, in the strangest forms of political repression and sectarian persecution, violating freedom of religion and belief and undermining freedom of movement. |
