Of the Government’s Duties: Guaranteeing the Religious Freedoms
Yusuf Rabie: Violating Hussaini rites is an incriminated action by law and accordingly the violator has to be handed in to the justice

The president of Bahrain Forum for Human Rights, Yusuf Rabie, stated that violating Hussaini rites and sabotaging Ashura ceremonies on the hands of Bahraini security authorities are incriminated pursuant to the Constitution and Bahraini penal code. He continued that, according to the law, the violator has to be handed in to the justice.

Article 311 of the penal code specifies clear punishments to everyone who intentionally disturbs the rituals of a recognized sect or destroys a place of these rituals, added Yusuf Rabie.

He affirmed that article 18 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that performing the rituals and respecting them are among the person’s right of the freedom of conscience and religion.

Rabie asked the Bahraini authorities to stop the sectarian targeting of a basic component in Bahrain stressing that based on article 22 of the Constitution, the government should guarantee the performing of religious rites and holding the religious processions and meetings.
