BahrainForum for Human Rights: Keeping Ghada Jamsheerunder arrest proves the government’s repressive policies Bahrain Forum for Human Rights said that keepingthe human rights activist, Ghada Jamsheer, under arrest until October 22ndover her tweets about the corruption taking place in King Hamad UniversityHospital proves the repressive policies exercised by the Bahraini governmentagainst human rights defenders and bloggers on social media. The Forum explained that the Bahraini authoritiesare using laws applied in the cyber-crime department to punish and prosecuteactivists. Tweets posted by the writer, Ghada Jamsheer, referred to corruptioncases in an official institution, King Hamad University Hospital. Meanwhile,the public prosecution considered the tweets an insult to other individuals, whichis regarded as a shaping of charges which is against criminal law regulations. The Forum called for the release of activistGhada Jamsheer and other prisoners of conscience and commit to the requirementsof the BICI Report and Geneva recommendations.
