Twenty human rights organizations said in a joint statement: "The threat of the Bahraini authorities to Ayatollah Sheikh Hussein Al-Najaty the representative of the religious reference Ayatollah Al-Sistany by deporting him from Bahrain next Thursday, constitutes an assault to the religious freedom, and it is a consecration of the sectarian persecution, and an infringement of the national and international laws and system, "noting that the deportation is a violation to his right of staying in the region where he was born and associated with".

The organizations continued: "His office has been exposed this week to a raid, and two officials were summoned, and both are religious prominent Mr. Sadiq Al-Charkhat the office manager and Sheikh Ali Al-Jamri, to investigate in a manner understood as reflecting to the desire of authority to retaliate, spreading fear, intimidation and intentional insult, especially that Najaty is one of the seniors of the Shiite community in Bahrain, and represents a religious and social importance, and has an active role in the promotion of national and Islamic unity, which means that targeting him is a sectarian scorn to the national component he belongs to."

The organizations added: "The forced deportation of Ayatollah Al-Najaty or compelling him to leave Bahrain, after successive pressure exerted by the Bahrain government that was last but not least withdrawing his nationality in a way that violates national and international law, and reveals an aggressiveness of authority against citizens," pointing out that " these actions violate immensely provisions, and articles of the international conventions, including materials: 2, 18 and 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, "in addition to articles 9 and 15 of the Universal Declaration of human Rights."

She added: "The deportation of the Bahraini government to Ayatollah Najaty warns of many dangers that threaten the national unity in Bahrain, and opens the door to next targets of thirty citizens whom the authorities proceeded to drop their nationalities forcibly.

The signing organizations called all human rights and international organizations of religious freedoms, particularly the Special Rapporteur of freedom of belief and the UN Special Rapporteur of discrimination to exert the necessary pressure to stop this dangerous targeting, which represents a serious entrance of the authority exiling policy of citizens, and turn Bahrain into a serious model of sectarian and religious persecution.
