On charges of the King insulting
The Bahrain Forum of Human Rights: on the Doctor Day, the Bahraini judiciary supports the imprisonment of Dr. Al- Samahiji for one year
The Bahrain Forum of Human Rights said that the Bahraini authorities provide a persistent revenge of the doctors who have committed to their humanitarian medical vow in treating those injured people in the events of Lualua roundabout, even after their release from prison, adding that the High Court, on the Doctor day, issued a ruling that supported the imprisonment of Dr. Saeed Al- Samahiji for one year with the charge of "insulting the King of the country" and that was during delivering a speech in one of the public gatherings.
The Forum has warned that Dr Al- Samahiji had previously been sentences by the military court for 10 years of prison and after appeal he was imprisoned for one year.
The Forum considered that the affront of the authorities in Bahrain to take revenge of the medical staff indicates the dominance of the police approach against the doctors, recalling that Dr. Ali Al- Ekry is still in prison serving a sentence of 5 years imprisonment.
The Forum called the international institutions of human rights to pressure the Bahraini government to stop the targeting of doctors and medical workers.
