Bahrain Forum of Human Rights: the patterns of torture which the playwright Sadek Al-Shaabani has submitted divulges the secret of preventing the rapporteur on torture of visiting Bahrain
The Bahrain Forum of Human Rights said in a statement that “what was transmitted of the detainee of opinion the playwright Sadek Al-Shaabani of his subjection to a brutal humiliating torture divulges the secret of preventing the Bahraini authorities of the UN rapporteur on torture Ekhwan Mandez to visit Bahrain, noting that "the persistence of torture in prison cellars is promoted by a policy of impunity and the non-accountability of the perpetrators and those involved in systematic torture including the Lieutenant Fawaz Al-Samim who supervised the torture of Al-Shaabani
The forum said: “the details quoted by Al-Shaabani that he was subjected to sexual abuse and implication or threat of assault to his wife and members of his family in addition to severe beatings and cruel treatment against him, and forcing him to make a false confession related to involve an opposition political association that does not pursue violence, all are details that reveal patterns dedicated to torture that is chilling the body, and the exploitation of the bodies of victims in a process of political pressure and security
It added: "the humanitarian situation of the detainee Al-Shaabani does not only promote the human rights community belief that Bahrain had become the capital of torture; Especially with the non-response of the authority for all the international calls that demanded it to stop these behaviors security and violations which detected police state encroachment and the absence of real reform
The Forum demanded the international human rights organizations and institutions concerning freedom of expression to exercise the possible pressure to release the playwright Sadek Al-Shaabani and to hold accountable those involved in his torture calling the International Commission of the Red Cross to undertake on his health constantly and to ensure him the availability of appropriate treatment after being severely tortured in his detention
