
The authority fights professional and alternative media and monopolizes television and radio space The Bahrain Forum of Human rights: ban the site “Bahrain mirror” by a government enemy of the internet
The Bahrain forum of Human Rights said that the Bahraini authorities blocked the site of the opposite Bahrain mirror newspaper for the sixth time in two days, days after the issue of the report of the organization repporteurs without borders on the occasion of the world day against cyber censorship, which considered Bahrain "enemy of the Internet" for the third consecutive year.
It continued: "The mirror of Bahrain that is administered by a Bahraini media group is one of the electronic newspapers which imposed itselve with high professionalism and expertise after the events of February 14, in which it represents one of the most important media centers to observe the political and human rights fact in Bahrain, especially with the official non-subjective media dealing with the events and its elimination of the opposing voices of participation, and its sectarian incitement as mentioned by the international expert report Mr. Bassiouni, and the government monopoly for the radio and television space.”
The forum added: “the newspaper has been banned for the first time on month 6 in 2011, and then began working on the alternative links, and the most popular times where it was exposed to targeting and closure were after it revealed in last November the involvement of Abdul Rahman Khalifa Al-Zahrani the son of the president of the House of representatives on issues related to trade in arms and drugs, and this time it was banned because it revealed the celebration story of Saddam Hussein by the Iraqi community in the Bahrain university.”
The Forum affirmed the need of Bahrain for an urgent visit by the Special Rapporteur of the UN to the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, calling the human rights organizations and the institutions concerned of freedom of expression, to exercise pressure to achieve immediate commencement in the implementation of Bassiouni and Geneva confrontations of media freedoms through its launch, and release of all prisoners of conscience of media body, and stop serial prosecutions on the judicial and security level
