The Bahrain forum filed a complaint for FIFA: Hold the Bahraini government accountable for continuing its violations against athletes and prosecute it politically
The Bahrain forum of human rights filed a complaint to Jerome Falka the Secretary-General of the International Football Federation “FIFA” against the Bahraini government and the Bahraini Federation of Football, calling to hold the government accountable for these serious violations in accordance to the established procedures within “FIFA”, and opened the file of violations that Salman Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa the President of the Asian Football Confederation was involved in, especially in the emergency period in 2011 with detainees athletes whom exercised their international right of freedom expression.
According to the complaint article which was accompanied by a list of the information and names athletes whom their rights were violated: “the Bahraini government continues to violate all the international conventions it ratified upon and continues to commit multiple abuses, and at last it resorted to implement a campaign of violations against the Bahraini athletes, for example, in a political trial for the Olympic team player Football Hakim Al Aribi who was sentenced for 10 years in prison in a case related to the right of opinion expression while he represented his team outside Bahrain
He continued: “In addition to the names of many prominent athletes whom have been subjected to an arbitrary arrest and unfair trials of 70 opinion’ detainees since the beginning of 14 February’ events, where the group of political provisions of athletes reached 634 years contradicting the basic rights stipulated in FIFA laws and Olympic Covenant
The forum confirmed that it would follow the file of Bahraini violations against athletes with FIFA and sports organizations arriving to punish the Bahraini government for non-respecting the FIFA laws and the international conventions of human rights
