The BFHR on the repeated targeting of parmadics in Lebanon by Israel The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights (BFHR) condemns the repeated Israeli military targeting of civil defense personnel in Lebanon. The latest was today, October 4, 2024, when Israeli aircraft raided civil defense teams while they were providing relief to the wounded and retrieving victims of the Israeli bombing of the southern suburbs of Beirut last night. Meanwhile, the Israeli aggression raided a civil defense center affiliated with the "Islamic Health Authority" in the village of Khirbet Silm, south of Lebanon. It also deliberately targeted ambulances parked in the courtyard of Marjeyoun Hospital, south of Lebanon. This resulted in casualties and injuries among civil defense personnel. The Israeli army also carried out an air strike on a relief center affiliated with the "Islamic Health Authority" on the evening of October 2, 2024, in Beirut, killing 7 civil defense personnel and wounding many others, and completely destroying the center. The BFHR confirms that these repeated Israeli crimes clearly and deliberately target civil defense organizations and medical teams. This is in the context of the ongoing Israeli war crimes - on a daily basis - in Gaza and Lebanon, since October 7, 2023, targeting civilians and civil facilities. Israeli war crimes have not been met with any - serious and deterrent - accountability by the relevant international bodies in accordance with applicable international laws. The BFHR stresses that the continued official - Arab and International - disregard, coinciding with the deliberate failure of international human rights bodies to acknowledge the Israeli war crimes - documented and continuing without respite or accountability - is nothing but submission to the project of exterminating the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. This disregard enables the occupying entity to continue killing civilians, destroying civilian facilities, and daring to violate international laws in general. |
