Bahrain forum welcomes the statementof the US State Department and calls on the Bahraini authorities to stopjustifying its failure to improve the human rights situation Bahrain Forum for Human Rights welcomed thestatement issued by the US State Department, on Wednesday, February 17, 2016,concerning the human rights situation in Bahrain. The Forum called on theBahraini authorities to stop providing justifications for its utter failure inimproving the human rights situation, and for the deterioration of the freedomsin the country and not releasing the detained opposition leaders, includingSheikh Ali Salman and Ebrahim Sharif and the rest of the prisoners of conscience.The Forum noted that "the judiciary, which enforces what is contradictoryto justice and its principles and infringes on the rights in the name of thelaw, knows no integrity and independence and is not even close to theinternational standards of fair trials" The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights called onthe US administration to actively seek to compel the government of Bahrain torespect and abide by the international mechanisms adopted by the Human RightsCouncil, and to respond particularly to legal claims included in the UNDeclaration, which is signed by 33 countries; especially with the approach ofthe thirty-first session of the Human Rights Council Bahrain Forum for Human Rights February 19, 2016 |
