Bahrain Forum of Human Rights: the Bahraini authorities used those with withdrawn nationalities as a paper of political blackmail

Bahrain Forum of Human Rights said that the Bahraini authorities have returned again to use the conditions of the 31 citizens with withdrawn nationalities for political blackmail in its conflict with the associations boycotting the elections, and these are procedures breaching the international and national law in addition to their harsh humanitarian consequences on these citizens

The forum added that the special parties of the public administration of nationality and passport affairs has summoned and subjected them to investigation through one of the officers and demanded them to rectify their legal status, including the search for a sponsor who sponsors them because they are not Bahrainies anymore

The Forum clarified that this procedure that targets citizens who belong the Shiite sect has political aims especially after the decision of the opposition political associations, which called for a boycott of the elections and reset the polls, calling the Bahraini authorities to truly rectify the situation of those citizens through returning their nationalities back after being arbitrarily withdraw and not depriving them from it or denying their right to have it

Whereas the forum demanded the High Commissioner of Human Rights to compel the Bahraini government to apply its international commitments in the field of the rights of citizens in the enjoyment of citizenship and not be subjected to political speculations
